New Director joins The Urbanists

We’re delighted to welcome Mike Fox, an experienced urban planner / urban designer who joins us as a Director.

James Brown

Mike is a design-trained urban planner with over 20 years of experience working in planning and urban design within both the UK and overseas. The latter includes international development work in Africa.

Mike brings considerable knowledge as an experienced, design-led planner with a track record of delivering projects in differing contexts and at various scales – urban to rural, site level to settlement level. His passion for placemaking and sustainable development means that he shares The Urbanists’ ambition to create great places that will stand the test of time.

Mike brings substantial private and public sector experience to the team. In the public sector, Mike has worked in planning policy, development management and regeneration teams in three different London Boroughs – including on one of Europe’s largest regeneration projects at Kings Cross. He has also worked for two planning and design consultants: Tibbalds, one of the most reputable planning and urban design practices in the UK, and Nash Partnership, an award-winning planning, architecture, and regeneration consultancy based in Bath and Bristol.

Mike is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and plays a role in the development of planning and related professions as an RTPI APC Assessor, a member of the RTPI South West International Group Management Committee and a Babbasa Equal Opportunities Ambassador.

Mike joins us in order to contribute his experience to our urban design and planning teams while also bringing a dedicated South West, Bristol and international dimension to our existing offer.
