The Challenge
The project comprises the design and construction of a new 'through school' (ages 3-19) for Additional Learning Needs (ALN) This highly specialised school with be home to 180 pupils on the site of the former Rhondda Cynon Taff Council’s offices, northwest of Tonypandy. The site sits within a mature woodland setting, with access to nature and will provide a future hub for the community.
Our Role
The Urbanists Landscape Architecture & Planning team worked closely with Morgan Sindall and RCT to establish a vision for the school at the outset, addressing ALN specific requirements, precedent studies.
The Outcome
Following a successful planning approval stage in 2025, The Urbanists are developing a Construction package with a start on site in Summer 2025. The project will be completed in 2026 and the landscape team will continue to support the client through to completion.
