Project Information
A large landscape-led residential scheme for 475 homes in a sensitive heritage and landscape setting.
The Challenge
The client needed to demonstrate to the Local Planning Authority that they could submit proposals that complimented the strong local character whilst creating a positive gateway to Cowbridge.
Our Role
The masterplan focuses on a new green place to live that will meet the needs of the community whilst integrating sensitively into the local context. Our aim was to design a scheme that will be an attractive, enjoyable and safe new neighbourhood on the edge of Cowbridge, complementing its historic and attractive character. The proposed development has been designed to provide an interesting and integrated residential environment for people to live in, with landscape and richness of the built environment being seamlessly connected. A key aim is create a community with a real sense of place and a distinctive community of the highest quality that will draw on the local context including scale, massing, landscape and built form.
The Outcome
Reserved matters applications split across two phases gained persimmion in quick succesion in 2017 and 2018. Phase 1 is almost complete and part occupied. Phase 2 is under construction.
