The Challenge
BikePark Wales is a premier mountain bike destination based in South Wales that attracts visitors from across the UK and Europe. The Park is a unique venue, the first place to have a full-time crew dedicated to improving the mountain bike experience. Over the past three years The Urbanists have provided planning advice to BikePark Wales on the delivery of a multi-million pound investment that will ensure the Park continues to offer an unrivalled mountain n bike experience.
Our Role
To date, The Urbanists have secured planning permission for a new visitor and bike rental centre, changing and shower facilities, family bike trails and play facilities that will open the Park to the family market, a unique woodland accommodation offer through 40 holiday lodges and chalets and a significant extension to the onsite highway and parking infrastructure.
The Outcome
The attraction of BikePark its stunning natural landscape; a wooded valley resort. This in turn makes the site very sensitive to development and expansion, but The Urbanists were able to manage the sentitives, helping to deliver a scheme that is integrated to the woodland setting, protects the site habitats and species, retains heritage features and improves the drainage of the Park.
